Expert Tips To Crack GATE 2014



GATE has become most important and fascinating exam which is attracting lacs of engineers. If we consider the scenario a decade ago more and more candidates use to appear for CAT exam, but now the scenario has changed, the ratio of candidates appearing for CAT and GATE is 1:3, in GATE-2012  7,77,134 candidates appeared and  12,00,728 candidates appeared in GATE-2013.

Apart from admissions in IIT’s and NIT’s for post graduation, GATE score is also considered by university of Singapore and Germany to provide admissions in their M.S and post graduation programs. Not only this several reputed Navratna, Maharatna and research organizations are recruiting candidates on the basis on GATE score

Considering the popularity of the examination, GATE-2014 organizing committee, IIT Kharagpur is making every effort to conduct this exam at international standards and certain new changes are proposed for GATE-2014.

To Crack GATE-2014, Candidates are advised to stick to below mentioned tips:
  • Accuracy and Time Management are the two important parameters to be considered to crack GATE exam. The paper consists of 65 questions which should be solved in 3 hours in this cut throat competition.
  • GATE examination consists only of multiple and numerical answer type questions, hence only correct answer fetches marks.
     
  • Practice previous year question papers and analyze in which topics you are weak and concentrate more on those topics. Always try to solve the papers in given time to obtain the idea that how many questions you are able to solve in given time limits.
     
  • Provide equal attention to both theory and numerical problems.
     
  • Carefully go through the GATE syllabus and find out which topic has more weightage and give more importance to those topics.
     
  • Group Study is also effective way to brush up your knowledge about technical topics with your partners, in this process you might explore new techniques and procedures to understand the topic better.
     
  • Short Cut Techniques: Traditional methods to solve numerical problems is time taking process, try to adopt short cut techniques to save the time.
  • Do not make wild guess as there is negative marking associated with the questions.
  • Prepare the list of important definitions, equations, derivations, theorems, laws in every subject.
     
  • Self Made Notes: Try to prepare notes after studying that particular topic, initially it will take some time but it will be useful in revising the topics at final stage.
  • Pay more attention while attempting linked and common data questions.

GATE-2014 Online test Series consists of total of 36 Quality Tests to test your performance and judge where you stand.
Basic Level Tests (16Tests): The questions will be focusing on basic concepts building and helping students in confidence building.
Advance Level Tests (16Tests): The questions will be of standard quality considering the level of competition.
GATE Probable Tests (4 Tests): These questions have good probability of appearing in GATE-2014.
